  • Very good advice .

One thing I was not too sure about was trying out new material in a public show. I would not want to try out a new effect till it was completely polished. It may be exposed otherwise and it kind of breaks the magical atmosphere and detracts from the other effects.

By the way Chris, I would lose the continual switching from colour to black and white. Is that supposed to be urban? And you said you didn't do urban! Seriously though it just detracts from the commentary.

  • @heelfan1234 Good points. Perhaps I could have been clearer on what I meant. I do not recommend reading the instructions to a trick and going straight to the street to perform it. I do believe that until a routine is used on a live audience, it has not been fully rehearsed. There is a performance element that cannot be fully predicted and calculated until it's tried out on real people. Street magic helps me integrate audience interaction into a rehearsed trick before taking it to a paying gig.

  • I like these vids and think they do give some good advice to break the "I wanna be David Blaine" mentality in new magicians. One thing I found inaccurate is drawn stories. I find a good story based effect that gets laughs, screams, etc. from your audience is great for attracting crowds. I also found the effects you listed for drawing crowds and fillers were sort of off. Good video, but I don't think it was as accurate as the first two.

  • @JAB63096 Thanks for your input. These videos are just based on my experience. I hope nobody is looking at them as hard and fast rules. They are just what has worked for me, my style of performing and what I've seen work with other successful street performers. You're right about tricks with longer patter working well in a street setting, the thing to avoid is when these stories muddy the effect and confuse the audience. The effect must be easy to recognize without confusion. Good points.

  • Hey nice advice and thanks I have 1 question on how to ask for tips like what to say

  • Very good advice, thanks :)

  • what kind of music at the beginning of the video?

  • please make a part 4, explaing what to do if an audience member wants to check the equipment

  • When is part 4 coming out?

  • What do you do when you are done?

  • Do you know when part 4 is coming out?

  • @MrPickleTv Amazing! :(

  • I do think it would be helpful to cover hecklers and dealing with drunks/disruptive spectators in a later episode. I know there are a lot of great books out there that have tons of lines and to deal with roudy members, but it is always helpful to hear from someone who has been on the front lines

  • thank you so much criss, can't wait to see episode 4
