@jistaface Anything over 200 watts is illegal over here. No license needed at all. The battery lasts around 100km on every charge, which costs $1. I can take it on the train. I can ride it on footpaths and malls,
I can pedal mine just fine, not that I ever need to. The battery weighs more than the bike but I wanted one with a long range as my pub crawls tend to last around 12-15 hours.
I already have a motorbike and bicycle so don't need anymore. This suits me perfectly for a quick local trip

No offence, mate, but... A bicycle covered in plastic to look like a motorbike? Why?
Why buy a bicycle too heavy to pedal, has the worst kind of wheels to pedal with, that carries hardly any baggage? It looks top-heavy too.
Or put another way, why buy an underpowered motorbike that only goes 60 miles?
A normal electric bicycle has a 250-watt motor, probably weighs half as much, carries a lot more, pedals like a normal bike...IS a bike.
Struggling to understand.
We have similar rules in the UK (it's 200w continuous-output here, so 250w is accepted as Ok cos that's peak output). To be honest, if you already have a bicycle, I understand it even less. (You could buy a top of the range bionx conversion and have loads of pub-crawl dosh left over!)
Ah, well - each to his own, I guess. Happy pubcrawls!

I wouldn't want to ruin my bike, it's too nice. The cheapest Bionx is around $150 more than this cost me, and that's before even fitting it.
