  • get involved or try something similar with a 22 mile swim wwwaspirechannelswimcouk/whats_involvedphp, i did it a few years ago in 5 weeks.

  • I have a C5/6 (complete) SCI and I sink like a brick since the injury, so I wear a sports impact life jacket. With the boyancy issue fixed I swim a mile in 60 - 64 minutes, the most difficult part of which is turning at the end of the pool... I turn counter-clockwise because my left arm is the strongest to push off the wall and correct my direction.

  • have a go at using some hand paddles to get a better push from each stroke in the water. I am a C5/6 spinal injury and they really imroved my swimming - stops water going through your fingers. Zoggs do good versions.
