This episode of Blessed Cafe' is sponsored by Mack Strong's TEAM WORKS. Big City and the crew went out to the west coast to perform on the TULALIP TRIBAL RESERVATION just oustside of Marysville, Washington.TEAM-WORKS Academy was founded by NFL player Mack Strong of the Seattle Seahawks and Zoe Higheagle-Strong, a Nez Perce tribal member. Zoe is also the Executive Director of HOPE worldwide- Washington. TEAM-WORKS began in 2002 as an after-school tutoring program for students at the Seattle Indian Center in Seattle, Washington. The program was developed in response to the less than 50% on time graduation rate in the State of Washington for Native American youth, according to the Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction. Mack and Zoe gave BIG CITY aka Ronald Goodwin the opportunity of a lifetime to perform on a Indian reservation. This year the HOPE Youth Corps (HYC) participated in the TEAM-WORKS program. A Tulalip community elder, who cooked for the campers, was so impressed with the HYC she shared, and They worked extremely hard, each with a smile on their face. Joyce McFarland, Director of Students for Success for the Nez Perce Tribe stated, The soccer camp would not have been the same without the support and participation of the Youth Corps. Thirty-two Youth Corps members from around the United States served tirelessly to ensure camp was a success. Mack Strong is a faithful member of the Seattle Church of Christ. It is a blessing to see how God is using his life to inspire many. • The Tulalip people (my people) are basically taken a lot of the Plains Native Tradition. The Canoe Family if they sang for you is what Tulalip is all about...Not the fancy dance and welcome circle Dance you will be able to tell later on...When you visit the different Tribes. But, can you tell me the two different Albums? I wanna know. I wanna buy them.....:)

  • I am Tulalip Tribal Member! that is neat you all when there. But, you know that Circle Dance you all did was not from the Coastal Tulalip Tribe it is from the Plains Indians. They have shown you merely a Steretype of what people normally see Native American's. I am Tualip and Cheyenne Plains. And they should have shown you the Longhouse Cedar dance traditions. My cheyenne culture would show you TEEPEE's and fancy dance. Tulalip tribe is a Mixed band of tribes! And I am proud to be a part of it!
