It was perfect winter day at Coast Guard Beach in Eastham, with astronomically high tides, light snow and low wind speeds. The waves came up to the large piece of a tree, about 15 feet long, which has been resting in this spot about 200 yards south of the Coast Guard station since the Patriots Day storm of 2007. Prior to that, it sat in Naust Marsh.
