Ah, that tastiest of Chinese confections: jiaozi, or dumplings! Simple to make, an endless variety of flavors, and above all, delicious. Some students stopped by to help make, cook, and otherwise put together a deliciously filling meal. I'm no expert on making dumplings yet, but I've learned a few tricks. We made a few different kinds: pork and chives; pork and mushroom; and pork, chives, mushroom, and shrimp. And as a bonus (secret?), we had enough dough left over to make miantiao, otherwise known as noodles! It was a great evening and a lot of fun to spend some time with my students.

  • chinarose: what is you panicing about? food is prepared by the use of the hands since thousands of years. billions of people eat food prepared in this way daily. the people doesnt get ill because of missing rubber-gloves, but because of chemicals in the food which shouldnt be there. this stuff is being COOKED. thats means its going to be sterile when it reaches the table.
