Yes, it is very safe. Nothing is about being smart or anything like that, it's about flying within your ability and the aircrafts capability. You can pick up flexwing aircraft from as little as £1500 but if you add in the costs for your license it could push it up to £4000. With regards to mpg, there are many factors that will decide that for you. Head wind or Tail Wind, trim, weight blah blah.

It's a very safe sport and the aircraft are very safe. They have "MOT"'s just like cars so the aircraft are safe and the pilot must also be "safe". You can pick up a 912 (4 stroke) quantum up for as little as £10'000. You can travel for hundreds of miles in 1 of these machines

Wonderful!! Is it safe if you just do normal flights, without trying to act smart? How much does one cost? And how many miles per gallon does it fetch you?
