It was my privilege and pleasure to be invited to the ORBIS flying hosptial by ORBIS International during the visit to Hong Kong International Airport.
The main purpose for my visit is to active listen and to observe the "need" and "wants" of ORBIS in the coming future (vision for next 20 years), so that I can understand how I can help ORBIS and its eye patients in an effective manner.
From my personally understanding, ORBIS has 3 main missions:
(1) to treat eye patients in the 3rd world countries;
(2) to educate and share medical knowledge and skills with eye doctors in 3rd world countries; and
(3) to help government in 3rd countries to fomula medical policy and medical management system to help eye patients.
Statistics shows that more than 99% of eye illnesses are treatable and eye patients can recover very soon with the proper traetment.
According to Mr. Perry Athanason, the Communication Officer of ORBIS International, the challenge for ORBIS in the coming future is negotiation with governments in 3rd countries. For example, some countries do not allow eye's organ transfer due to vaious reasons. Their primary job is to negotiate and persuade the government officials to make it possible.
Here, I would like to THANK YOU for Mr. Perry Anthanason, the Communication officer of ORBIS International, for the inviataion on the goodwill tour on its jet, as well as thanking for the effort of the employees and volunteers of ORBIS for organising this event. :)
My aim to make this video is to let you know the values of ORBIS and how ORBIS help those who need.

Dear All,
I have curious questions about humanity & charity:
(1) How can an aeroplane help to carry out humanity and charity works other than a flying hospital?
(2) What kind of technology will be helpful for aeroplanes to carry out humanity and charity work?
(3) Why do we think that an aeroplane is more attractive than a train for carrying out charity work?
THANK YOU IN ADVANCE for your creative ideas and brainstorm!!! :)

=) Awesome! I wonder why we would need to do a cater-ax surgery in flight though, it is not a life threatening deformity is it?

@shadowblade145
To answer your question, the surgeries were carried at the airport of 3rd world countries, not when flying.
The reasons that ORBIS has a eye hospital on a DC-10 is because:
(1) they want to be attractive to government politics so that they can talk with the politics to re-formulate the countries' health ploicy.
(2) the doctors at 3rd world countries can learn new skills and kowledge for future surgeries in their countries.

Also, there are many ORBIS volunteers on the ground to perform following-up work for the recovering eye patients
