Not defenting Hovinds crap "dissertation" but why focus on the typesetting, it is obviously since it is from 1991 (as is many "real" doctoral disserations) written on a typewriter.

I get the strong feeling that the creationists won't let us just pass of this dissertation without actually going through it all. Funnily enough, there are some creationists who think this is a FORGERY. It's that bad.
