The strength of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), which has been guarding the State of Israel since it declared independence in 1948, derives from the selfless determination and great capabilities of the young men and women who form it. Dan Haskell speaks to us. www.fidf.org

At the age of 18, these courageous young people join the IDF, promising to uphold the difficult tasks of defending the State of Israel and guaranteeing the safety of those who reside within its borders. The responsibility of the Israeli government is to prepare and train these soldiers and provide them with the necessary tools. Friends of the Israel Defense Forces (FIDF) has assumed the responsibility of providing these soldiers with love and support in an effort to ease the burden they carry on behalf of the Jewish community worldwide.

In 1981, Friends of the Israel Defense Forces was created as a not-for-profit organization with the mission of providing and supporting social, educational, cultural, and recreational programs and facilities for the young men and women soldiers of Israel who defend the Jewish homeland. It also offers these services to the families of fallen soldiers.

FIDF operates through 15 branches around the United States and Latin America, located close to large Jewish communities. Thanks to an expanding donor base and exceptional generosity, FIDF has experienced unprecedented growth over the last few years.

FIDF proudly offers its support to soldiers and their families through a variety of unique and innovative programs. Providing financial aid to soldiers in need, granting academic scholarships to former combat soldiers, helping bereaved families, and sponsoring fun days for combat battalions are just some of our endeavors. Thanks to a low overhead, we ensure the needs of the soldiers are provided in the best possible way. Through FIDF missions to Israel, donors are able to visit bases, meet with soldiers, and tour the country. These opportunities reinforce the significant bond between the Jewish community in the United States, the soldiers of the IDF, and the State of Israel.

  • @MadMax82043 So I actually did write to my congresswoman about the foreign aid situation, and her reply was the typical politi-speak..."As your elected representative, I am working hard to address our deficit / debt concerns and thank you for contacting me". The whole system is a shame. Politicians have not worked for the people since before the FED. I guess it's just one of those things that you have to accept, since you can't change it?

  • @MadMax82043 Well I must say, I was very impressed with the level of civility in your comments...For which I thank you. I fully understand and accept your position, as you have stated so eloquently. I would respectfully suggest that you not engage in that sort of right wing lunacy...:Muslim in the White House! If that were the case we wouldn't be having this discussion, as a Muslim president would never give a dime to Israel. It also takes away from your very valid points. (cont.)

  • @steute2011 my continuation to my previous comment,

why not contact your congressman where you live and ask them TO PLEASE CUT ALL AID OFF TO ALL COUNTRIES ?

you will soon find out that is actually US congress which dose NOT want to cut the aid off,, the US dose what is in its best interests, there are NO friends in the world today, Allies yes, but everyone should be looking at their own interst,

in addition, please ask the Muslim in the white house to BUTT out of Israeli internal decisions

  • @steute2011 believe it or not i actually agree with you 100%, i think the US should stop all air to all countries including israel,

but what troubles me is people always concentrate on Israel,

what don't you try to go to the US federal reserves and see who actually gets HUGE amounts of funds from the US, let me give you hint, Germany 17.2 billion, France 16.3

UK 13.6. and many others, israel is on the bottom of the list,

PS most israeli's are in favor of stopping those fund for many years

  • @MadMax82043 Let me get this straight...since we give you the money to buy our weapons, then that makes it ok? Do you give your customers the money to buy your products? NO foreign country should be receiving aid from our broke and borrowing government, while we have domestic homelessness, poverty and programs being cut! Those are the places I would put that money and not where the sun don't shine! Please tell your government to stop accepting the handouts!

  • @steute2011 YOU CAN TAKE THE 3 BILLION THAT GO'S TO THE IMI WHICH THE ISRAELI MILITARY INDUSTRIES WHICH HUGE CONTRIBUTION TO US MILITARY WEAPONS DEPLOYMENTS WITHIN THE US MILITARY,

UNLIKE MUSLIMS WHO WOULD STARVE TO DEATH WITHOUT US HELP.

ANOTHER THING YOU SHOULD KNOW OVER WHELMING MAJORITY IN ISRAEL DON'T WANT THAT MONEY, AND DON'T NEED IT,

SO SHOVE IT WHERE THE SUN DON'T SHINE

  • This is hilarious! You mean to tell me that the 3 billion dollars a year in cash and another 1-3 billion dollars we send these war criminals isn't enough? One of the most powerful militaries in the world needs donations? The military of a nation with one of the strongest economies in the world needs donations? The leeching never stops!
