The McGurk effect is a compelling demonstration of how we all use visual speech information. The effect shows that we can't help but integrate visual speech into what we 'hear'.

  • It's terrifying how many people can't grasp this simple concept. Did the comment section recently become exclusive to the mentally disabled or is the general population really this stupid?

  • I wonder how well this would work with "Buck you."

  • great.. now i think my brain is retarded

  • mind blown!!

  • I don't hear a difference, however, I feel unusually horny after hearing all of these sexy sexy aphrodisiac baas. . . baa. mhm, so hot.

  • ~I dont understand, it wasnt same wid me..i heard BA thn i clearly heard FA and it all happened in the first time =/ ..

  • wow there are some really dumb comments on this video. How hard is this to understand really? It's as if some people don't know we change the way we move our mouth when we make different sounds. The best part is, if you only hear "ba" all the time, then you are probably at least mildly autistic according to some researchers. I think its darkly amusing that someone might have discovered their autism in this way.

Also evidence does change regarding scientific studies, that's what makes science so valuable, beacuse it isn't set in stone and it changes as new evidence is brought to light. Maybe I could see about posting a link to the data, though I'd have to contact the Dr. doing the study.

The study showing that people with autism don't really react to the McGurk effect is currently being reasearched I just thought the prelim data was interesting. It's like dsylexics and the Stoop effect (sort of).

As to the neurological differences between people with autism and the typical population. There are significant differences. Autism is a nuerological based developmental disorder. I'm not sure what you're talking about. Maybe I misunderstood.

  • @tefaa891 Thanks for the explanation..your a Genius...ba ba ba ba ba...you really should stop fucking sheep...

  • @1Krapola Well, your mentally disabled that's why you don't get it and think its bullshit
