Balloon Fiesta Crash 2009

Albuquerque, NM October 5, 2009 - This balloon had just hit the top of a tent and a passenger fell out, right afterwards the balloon started to rise very quickly and here you can see what happened when the pilot tried to lower the balloon. Balloon was falling faster than it looked, which you can hear when it hits the ground.

Yikes. Looks like the pilot pulled the top out too much and it caused the envelope to collapse. How many casualties? At that rate of decent you can't tell me no one wasn't seriously hurt

@07fudge the man who fell out dislocated his hip, and the woman who fell with the balloon walked away without any major injuries. There are a lot of news reports with some better pictures/videos if you search that date.

@goose756 That's good that no one was seriously injured. I'll look into it more when I have more time. I've never seen an incident like this in the 10 years I've been helping/flying with balloons. Still think the pilot pulled the top out to much.........IDK will look into it.
