A bit of advice to you guys: look up some of the rules of filming. One in particular is the 180 Degree Rule. For instance your character start off sitting in the left of the screen. Then he goes from the right to the left of the screen in the next shot. This is a change of direction as they character should have followed the same way.

I guit after like 1 minute. Not authentic at all, t-shirts and cargos, the audio was too loud for a film noir, and it's too modern and cheesy.

@gnarly6154 that is a terrible definition. Film Noirs are complex. They use flashbacks, flash fowards. They revolve around murders or crimes that serve as the inciting incident. Femme Fatales-women who represent the struggle against convention, displaced women from the late forties and fifties fighting to return to the freedom they had in WWII...so much more to it. Watch Double Indemnity, Chinatown, watch Brick or the Assassination of a High School president for modern interpretations.

i hate to be a jerk to you, but this is not a film noir. I took an entire class on film noir so i have a good idea of what the genre is. This video has no moral ambiguity, no femme fetale, and it is more like a horror film shot in black and white.
btw, has anyone else here watched this video thinking it would relate to the anime Death Note?

So, what was the point in saying two hours earlier when nothing happened between that time that would have taken more than say... 3:20...
Was that "chase scene" sped up? Did it last a lot longer than it looked?

@gnarly6154 ... no it's not. –noun
a motion picture with an often grim urban setting, photographed in somber tones and permeated by a feeling of disillusionment, pessimism, and despair.
Not grim urban setting... not in somber tones (B&W is not somber when its just desaturated) no disillusionment, pessimism and the despair is a guy running for no apparent reason. This is not film noir, or anything close or attempting to be similar to it.

@gnarly6154 I have never heard that simplistic of a definition for Film noir. Where is the hopeless situation? Femme Fatal? Character as innocent to not so innocent? Film Noir is character/situation driven... not either or, but both. I have to agree, it's horror... If Film Noir was merely a mysterious figure or mysterious action, then 90% of films would be film noir... this is not.

Good home movie/video short guys....
Not a film noir. A film noir involves suspicion and people sinking to their lowest point of morale when given the chance. This was just a horror film.

@rocksports101
That is one version of a film noir. according to my webster dictionary a film noir involves a mysterious figure, or a mysterious action occuring, usually taking place in the 40s.

sorry but this isn't a film noir...

agreed, but it's one of the closer things to one in this day of filmmaking.
