The ring of six at St Augustine, Rumney, Cardiff (tenor 9-1-27 in F#). This is the start of the Llandaff & Monmouth Association's test piece at the six bell competition for the Arthur Hoare Trophy. This is a striking contest in which the four Welsh ringing Associations compete in a six bell and eight bell heat. L&M were judged to be the winners in 2009. The bells are a recently rehung six at Rumney on the edge of Cardiff. They are a mixture of founders but sound rather nice. I can't tell you how they were to ring because I didn't get a grab!

  • Nice bells and I know a couple of the local ringers who ring here!! :)

  • @simonbellringer yeah they sound nice - can't say about how they go because I didn't get to ring :( like tops though apparently.

  • @timmeh1507 If they go asa nicely as they sound what is there to gripe about!!! :)

  • @simonbellringer well, nothing except that I can't claim to have grabbed here!

  • @timmeh1507 Nor have I... (sulks, throws a wobbler...)

  • @simonbellringer well sulking isn't going to get you anywhere! Why not arrange a trip? Plenty of towers in the area and easily accessible by motorway from Swindon!

  • @timmeh1507 Am considering a YouTubers quarter (why I dont know!!!) so Wales would be accessible for me, you, Laura, charlotteox6 and quwers (latter 2 from Swindon area also.)

  • @timmeh1507 Lol, you know my area better than I do!!! Yes it is accessible... Not a bad idea that!!!

  • I used to live in Church Road, number 14, very many years ago. I always remember the church bells that used to wake me up on Sunday morning. I didn't used to mind when I was a kid, but later on it used to be quite hard after having drunk a few, too many pints in the Rompney Castle or the Cross Inn!
