@TubeCrafter not really, in the malaysian Su-30MKM, the 'long sting' at the rear houses rearward facing radars, european/american avionics addons like RWR, LWR, countermeasures and other sensors.
check out Su-34's, it's so much longer. (and bigger)

@voltamp if that is true the F-22 would be pretty useless. you can't developed countermeasure just by looking at it since you wouldn't know it's signature, the frequency of it radar, it top speed and height ceiling characteristic is still pretty much unknown... how long can it operate before it need to be service, these are all critical detail you need to estimate how many plane they need to cover a given period of time, all we cannot tell by just looking.

@382MVRL Flanker has pretty long thing for parachute sticking in the back though which makes the aircraft look longer than it really is. And Flanker is not as bulky or heavy. It stands pretty tall but it is sort of curved like a swan's neck. So Flanker while big is not THAT big. But I think J-20 is not MiG-31 in terms of size either like some think.

china came a long way in 20yrs. u.s paid for the r&d cost devolpment. while others just find the info! who's fault is it ? u.s gov military info must be took out of low ranking offices, this must be a top info must be listed as top secret and those able to see the info must be under watch. take the info out of the hands 99%
