@mbsnyderc actually the V-Rod engine was originally meant for Buell because Harley realized that to be competitive Buell would need a water-cooled engine in one of their sport bikes. So Harley contacted Porsche and began development of said engine, but once willie G Davidson heard of this new engine he decided it would be awesome if they put it in a cruiser, so the engine was designed way different than originally intended and ended up too heavy and big to be used in a sport bike.

American engine? this hole thing is a joke engines are designed buy teams of engineers tested and redesigned most large companies employ engineers form all over the world ,contract parts manufacture from many countries,this Idea of a bike being from a country is foolish.and the first engine Eric Buell was helping develop with Harley turned into the V Rod.to heavy for a sport bike and the engine in 1125r is mostly his vision.

@til death Im Canadian and our sleds have engines made in Austria same and the Buell with the 1125, pity about Buell going under, it was the first bike out of that place that i liked ,Triumph and Norton,s where my choice for bad boy bikes but everybody knew thoses had good people on them ,Now Japan or Itali have the crown but we tried too with our Can-ams now BRP, but we too fail to make a great bike... yet ,maybe tomorrow?

@emtildeath hahaha Eric Buell begged Harley to make an engine that had balls no just sound but they couldnt be bothered ,so he went to Europe for the 1125 and it looks like ir ruined him ,i always hated harleys cause i dont like the people on them ,the Buell was something that appealed to a better class of guys then the Harley and the bullies that ride them : )

None of you so far got it ,the bike was a leap forward ,it sported and under slung exhaust a first ,coolant in the frame and oil in the swing arm and an engine that had hp above 54, rides like a sport bike because it is and its American ,not Japan ,china ,corea,Italian,no people, it was conceived in the US and in my opinion a welcome departure for the rest of similar looking bikes out there ,im not a guy who likes a clone of a clone this bike said something ...this is the future.

Sounds closer to stock than most of the aftermarket. Not exactly a thing of beauty though.
