  • @bolder2009 I know the story; thank you...very insightful.

  • @shydmples Regardless of the life long emnity between the two of them, Marvin loved his father. This song is about the joy of the Gospel experience he had as a child in his father's church. He was always grateful to his father for teaching him about Jesus, and he loved the feeling of singing in church and seeing the congregation get caught up in the worship experience. The church ladies would hug him, and he loved it. Its a beautiful tribute to his father.

  • He actually wrote this song for his father...very ironic.

  • @asmallz15 A lot of Gaye's later stuff flew a bit under the radar. It was his last single released while he was still alive... it didn't really receive the same popularity as Sanctified Lady, which was released after his death, but still a great lick. The guy made sooo many great tunes... and even though his sound changed a bit over the years, quality was never compensated.

  • those horns are just amazing!

  • Marvin Gaye’s is the artist that I most identify with.

I tried emulate his music earlier in my life.

    This brother was so sensual…

His Music did provide sexual healing for many of us during lovemaking

The first time I made love, “I want You” was playing on my cassette deck.

His music helped me, and HEALED during some very trying times……

These songs are dedicated to Nicci. Girl you were my first love

I think of you often….Thank You for allowing me in your life

  • @LadyofWar1980 Cause ain't nobody as smart as me! Shhhhhhh!!! :)
