  • I really like this one too! It's very very similar to God's Promise. I think he did that to cover himself in case most people go with new settings over revised. This is definitely one of my favorites.

  • anyone notice how similar this setting is to the St. Louis Jesuits Mass? of course it cold just be due to the fact that Dan wrote both of them

  • believe it or not, this setting was picked by the Diocese I work for to impliment over the next 4 years--they picked 4 settings for us to do..I really like this one and plan on teaching it during the summer since it is so catchy and easy for the congregation!

  • beautiful.....God bless....

  • As an accompanist, I play these mass settings for my church. I love how they're cohesive in chord structure, and the chord structures themselves and phrasing are so beautifully crafted. I love to play these. :) I prefer this over Mass of Creation, though Mass of Creation's Lamb of God is quite beautiful.

  • I understand the bitterness. I quit song leading a year ago when the "Church" took away the music I knew and was comfortable playing and singing with harmonies and then tried to ram Latin chants down our throat and eliminate singing songs. The director criticized my song selection and style as NOT REVERENT ENOUGH. They also downsized staff and now my wife is unemployed. The new parish I attend is more open. They used this setting last Sunday. It may grow on me.

  • @kempedkemp Wow. That was............wait a minute.....hold on.......wait....OK....It took Church Lady a while to absorb all that bitterness. What on earth is eating you, man?

  • @homathetes555 yes, by all means. Church music should be difficult and painful and always in a minor key. It should never be uplifting, or a catchy tune that you might find yourself singing in the shower. It should never be tuneful enough for the average person to sing; one must be musically trained and attend choir rehearsals. Yeh, those ICEL English chants are soooo very "transendent" I can't manage to bring myself back.

  • @MixtureBoy good, maybe someone in the congregation will actually sing them.

  • @macbethderham I'm sure you would have us doing something that only trained musicians can sing... forget about assembly participation. Believe it or not, not all Catholic churches have choirs. Which new mass setting do you prefer? or perhaps you just don't care for Schutte?
