"Television matters, now more than ever. It tells us diverse, dynamic, and profound stories about every aspect of our lives. It speaks to us intimately as individuals and unites us beyond our neighborhoods. In Columbia College Chicagos Television Department, we teach students how to tell stories and create memorable television, preparing them for a career in the industry. The opportunities in the department are as varied and extraordinary as the opportunities in the industry." - Michael Niederman, Chairperson, Television Department

FACULTY
Our faculty is chock full of professionals who are active and respected in the industry, including Frank Bianco (News Director, WLS-TV Chicago), Dr. Beau Basel Beaudoin (Carnegie Foundation US Professor of the Year of Illinois) and Eric Scholl (Critical Encounters Fellow).

CURRENT STUDENTS
Most importantly, our enrolled students have access to the latest in tools, equipment, and networking opportunities, from the student-run TV station to the Semester in L.A. program to local and national internships, all intended to provide students with invaluable experience and contacts in top television markets.

As recently as November 2009, the Chicago/Midwest Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences honored a small team of students from Columbia College Chicagos student television station, Frequency TV, with an Emmy for their in-depth reporting. • It's only been til now that I've seen the finished sequence! Sweet! (I'm the lad that did the 3D intro sequence and transitions)

  • The actors from the last scene think they're on a big stage. Other than that, pretty cool stuff.
