Researchers at Wageningen University say it is possible to reduce greenhouse gas emmissions of cows by up to 20%, by changing their diet. Cattle are responsible for 18% of all global GHG emmissions - one cow is as bad for our climate as a car that drives 18,000 kilometres per year. According to the researchers in Wageningen there is not one single silver bullet, but a few tricks such as adding starch and fat to the cows' diet can significantly reduce emmissions. At the university, cows are tested in refridgerator-like respiration rooms.
