SEX TEST or HEAT IN THE HAND.
This is a great effect that I have personally performed and manufactured for over 40 years, since first starting out as a young Magician in Morecambe, Lancashire.
Out of all the routines I have ever performed, this has to be the most requested little number ever. But be warned it's a trick you will have to carry with you all the time as you will constantly get requests to perform "HOT SPOT".
I have always performed this effect as a "SEX TEST" and where possible use a woman. But it works equally well with men.
In a Bar situation where people are drinking I ask a Lady if they have ever taken part in a "SEX TEST". After the giggles have died down, they usually say "no", and I ask if they would take part in one right now? I have never ever had any one refuse.
I then ask if anyone smokes and if they have a packet of cigarettes on them, borrow the packet, take out the cigarettes and then remove the SILVER PAPER from the box. I then put the cigarettes back in the pack and return them. Just in case nobody smokes, I carry some silver paper with me.
Hand the silver paper to the young and ask her to tear it in half and discard the half she does not want. Repeat this until she is left with a piece approximately 5cm square.
I then show my hands empty making a point that I have nothing at all in my hands at all, at the same time I take the paper from her openly, I then ask the lady to choose any drink on the table and dip the silver paper into it. Then, with my fingers and in full view, rub the chosen drinks liquid over the paper and finish of by screwing the silver paper up into a small loose ball,
Ask the lady to hold out her hand, palm up, put the ball of silver paper into her hand, and ask her to hold it tight. BUT NOT TOO TIGHT. At the same time I ask her to look me directly in the eyes and simply to think about really good sex, this gets them giggling again. Carry on by explaining, when people think of sex the blood flow to the skin increases all over their body and they feel warmer. If they have a vivid imagination they can get really hot! Usually the heat starts in the hands and they should start to feel the warmth there first. "Are you thinking about sex, are you getting warm, well when you get too warm drop the paper as I think you're just about now passing the sex test. Congratulations."
Normally a magician never repeats a trick twice, but in this case you can do so as many times as you like, and you will be asked to do it again on everyone round the table, don't fear it just do it again. It's brilliant and can actually add to the effect.
Trust me! This is a great effect and people love it. When I have performed this I am always amazed at how much paper is left in ash trays all over the bars and clubs I have worked. This is not from my performance but from everyone in the club trying it out for themselves as they think that it is something anyone can do or that the paper reacts with the coke or beer.
Use this once and you will use it forever.
