  • Thank you for the helpful tips! I only have about 3 more months to go, so I don't have much time to get my birthing plan together. Good timing coming across your videos! I would also be interested in the tearing issue as that is a concern of mine. This is my first pregnancy/delivery so I do think of the "scary" stuff, too. I was wondering if there is a huge difference between tearing (something that can happen to anyone) both with and without pain meds.

  • @cometomyarmsmybeamy I'm not quite sure of the role meds/no meds play in vaginal tearing. I would imagine that it's easier to tear with the meds because you're numb but I can be wrong. I tore without the meds and really didn't feel it! The doctor stitched me up and I was ok. I did my birth plan about a month before my due date. It's really good to do one because thinking about what you want in advance makes it much smoother. I would put a copy of my birthplan on my blog tommorow :) Best wishes!

  • Did you experience vaginal tearing? Also, at what point during the delivery was the hardest?

  • @danagradaya I did experience vaginal tearing. It's much better to tear naturally!!! The part of delivery that was the most difficult was at the transition stage--about 30-45 mins before it's time to push. It's also the shortest time :)

  • I was told I couldn't drink water during labor..... just ice chips....

  • This isn't correct. I was told by a nurse that the reason that some hospitals prohibit eating and drinking is because most moms tend to vomit; however vomiting is just a part of it :) Keeping yourself hydrated is vital. I decided to hydrate myself by drinking rather than through an IV. Are you a high risk pregnancy?
