I'm sorry you think J.K. Rowling is better than Shakespeare that's so sad that you have such a limited appreciation of english literature.
And no, I don't consider that CS Lewis is better than Pullman, I think they're both great writers and their work shouldn't put on a scale like that, each has value, each is a great story.
Though personally if I had to choose between reading either Narnia or His Dark Materials, I'd go with His Dark Materials nine times out of ten

ooh maaaaan, this ending its awesome.
I think that the worst thing of not getting the sequel would be( yes im still hoping), never to see Will in the big screen.

Whats the name of the song on the preproduction notes when lyra is trying to save roger?

That is EXACTLY the way the movie should've ended. I was SO ANGRY when I saw the ending for the movie in theatre. I want to The Subtle Knife AND The Amber Spyglass to come to the theatre and this time be FAITHFUL to the books. I don't care how long the movies would have to be to be faithful to books, but as long as they are faithful to the books, that's all I care about. I WANT THE TWO SEQUELS TO COME OUT! WE'VE BEEN WAITING TOO LONG!

Seems if the original ending had been kept, maybe interest would have been sparked for the sequel. I wonder did New Line know the movie wasn't up to snuff and opted to have a final ending, so no follow up was necessary. Having Lyra discover her act of betrayal was a powerful plot point and I believe her catalyst to move onward. I don't mind a longer movie when it's well done. Sad they couldn't be as faithful or supportive as with Harry Potter

@EnergyUK Thanks that will be a big help!
I have no idea what is going on in this scene!

@Barclay1987 I'd suggest watching the newer version (see the description for link) - it has subtitles to explain more. Unfortunatly a lot of the scenes that build up towards the understanding of this scene have been removed from the film. The other alternative is to read the book - read the book and this scene makes perfect sense! :)

@wolfgirl167 I'd suggest watching the newer version (see the description for link) - basically her Father, Lord Asriel used the energy that connects a person to their deamon to break between different parallel universes. This leads to the second and third books visiting different worlds, including our own. However her Father and Mother have not exactly made up...
