This works in most schools
If your school uses MAC, then use command shell and type ping instead of tracert in command prompt.

He isn't a hacker. Its just simple hostname to ip conversion. You don't even need command prompt for this, there are websites that do it with nothing but the address.

awesome ... my moms a teacher and she stays at skol reall late after skol and im stuck in her classroom with nothing to do other than homework so now i can get on youtube instead of those hours and hours of waching mom do work and staring at the wall... AWESOME

You forgot to mention that some schools also block notepad, so to the people who don't know another way to get it open, open up internet explorer, go to "View" at the top of the page and "Source". Or you can just right click anywhere on the page and "View source".
