  • @tellthetruthg Thanks for telling me that. That name sounds very familiar to me.

  • @MIKESOWELL I talked to my Uncle and he said probably no one can be credited with being the first jump shooter but he did give me this nugget. Hank Luisetti is given credit for creating the first one handed running shot. LOL. before him it was all 2 handed set shots

  • @MIKESOWELL I thought I heard it from some source that he was the first. I was trying to remember how I came to believe he did it. I'm would never just make stuff up out of thin air. Maybe the idea came from the jump hook? Regardless he took it to another level. I'll ask an uncle who played for St Mary's in the 40's and coached in the SF Bay area from the 60's until the late 70's . I'll get back to you

  • @tellthetruthg He said two names, but I cannot remember them. I had until today believed that he had invented it until I just heard him say (obviously in an older interview, since he passed away in December 2006) that he was not the inventor. It was on NBA TV. They will probably air it again.

  • @MIKESOWELL I won't argue with that. Who did? is there anyone credited with creating that shot? I guess because he used it more and was better at it that I picked it up that he was the 1rst. Thanks for correcting me.

  • @tellthetruthg I am watching a documentary right now, he said that he did not create the jump shot. There were guys who were doing it before him. I think it may be more accurate that he popularized the jump shot.

  • he not only created the jump shot he had hops too. So being tall in those days plus going up and shooting it he left defenders grounded. Pioneer

  • Wow. That is amazing. I really didn't know what greatness I was missing.

  • Paul Arizin led the league in scoring twice

  • thanks for remembering a truly great player in his era. As a boy growing up in west philly, near convention hall I went to see as many Warrior games as possible. Paul was the leader of many of those teams. Does anyone remember going to NBA Doubleheaders? I remember going to see the Knicks play the Syracuse Nationals in game 1 and the second game was our own Warriors play the celtics....all for one $1.50 general admission!!! Oh the good old days in Phila.
