This is a training guide for rangers who want to know how to train at gobys in aqua land.
This video was not made for showing off or for inspiration so don't flame me for my damage. If you want to know the stats on my equipment in this video:
Weapon: 100 ATK, 1 DEX
Gloves: 8 ATK, 5 DEX, 2 STR
Overall: 16 DEX
Cape: 10 DEX
Shoes: 7 DEX
Hat: 6 DEX
Warrior Pill atk boost: +5 ATK
LVL 105

Don't post about who's stronger or how snipers can train easier here. Don't comment about how my damage is low, etc. No one want's to hear about it, and I don't either

This video is uneditted to take advantage of the 10 min video time restriction. It's just a guide, nothing to show off about so no flaming!

Minimum recommended 3rd job skill build (to train here effectively):
lvl 30 strafe
lvl 5 mortal blow
lvl 1 arrow rain
lvl 15 puppet

Recommended 3rd job skill build (to train here effectively):
lvl 30 strafe
lvl 30 arrow rain
lvl 5 mortal blow
lvl 1 inferno
lvl 18 puppet

The reasoning behind these builds:
Puppet is an essential skill to have at gobys. It is important that the skill is high lvled, because if you are planning to trian here early, chances are, you'll be taking a while to kill the bone fish and gobys. A strong puppet should give you enough time (and hp on the puppet) to train effectively without wasting too much mesos and pots.

At lower lvls (high 8x and low 9x), having maxed strafe is more important than having maxed rain. You'll see why when you figh the bone fish. If you can't kill the bone fish fast enough, they'll use their defencive skills more than you'd want them too, wasting time, money and pots. You might even die if you're in a bad situation.
Having a high lvl rain will be very helpful for killing the gobys, but if it's low lvled, strafe should still be more effective to use.

If you notice the way I am training, I leave certain platforms on the map untouched. I do this because I feel that it's much more efficient to move on and fight goby houses. Leaving those bone fish there might prevent more bone fish from spawning in inconvenient places (but it may possibly lower spawn rate of houses. take your preference in training here)

You may notice me using inferno once before using arrow rain. I do this to mob the goby fish. In this video, my inferno is very weak, but I still find it very useful to gather the mobs.

Another note about the bone fish, and the way that I fight them: I tend to summon puppet in their range of attack, rather than summoning the puppet on a ledge (out of range of their attack). The main reasoning behind tis is that when the bone fish is able to attack a target, it becomes less likely to use it's defencive skills, making it quicker to finish them off, and move on to what's important - the goby houses.

Additional notes:
Keep your hp above 2k at all times.
Recommended to have hp above 2.3k at all times.
Gobys hit for 1k on touch, Goby houses can hit 1.9k dmg on magic atk, and up to 1.3k on touch.
Bone fish can hit up to 1.6k on magic atk.

***don't flame me for incorrect spelling/typos! it just shows how incapable you are to figure out my main point, which i've tried to make as clear as i can!***

  • ur training is very efficient;

when u lure the bonefish, u summon puppet at a location where the bonefish cant get to the puppet; thus allowing u to take all the time in the world to blast them all away.

take 8:30 - 9:30 for example. when u lure all the bonefish, u would want to summon puppet on the platform just above u; far to the left. at this point, the bonefish would be unable to get in range of the puppet to attack it, so u can simply spam arrow bomb to clear them quickly and efficiently.

  • Thanks for the input, there actually was a reason as to my puppet placements.

Since this video was made nearly 3 years ago, most archers were only able to do about as much damage as you see on the video.

By placing the puppet in the mob, the chances of the bone fish casting their "anti-weapon" skill is lower because they have the option of attacking the puppet, or casting anti-weapons. In your case, they only have the option to cast anti-weapons.

(... post too long, to be continued)

  • This wastes a lot of time and slows down training. You can experiment with this to confirm.

However, this video was made three years ago, so it does not consider the changes that the game has gone through up until now. Because of this, your method becomes a good alternative for those who can kill a bone fish in 2 - 3 hits (with strafe) since the attack power of the average ranger is probably at least 2 to 3 times greater than mine 3 years ago.The video description gives reason for all my tactics

  • why use arrow bomb and not arrow rain?

  • because bomb arrow can stun, which potentially stops the bone fish from casting their "anti-weapons" skill. If it casts it, you have to wait 30 seconds or so to do more than 1 damage. It also is stronger than arrow rain when it hits critical.

  • Hi, did training at vikings make it faster? Coz ranger got snipe point (place you can shoot while avoid being shoot easily) there? Hope you reply, thx

  • every goby house is like a small mob of vikings, and since they appear so frequently, you'll find gobys much faster. ive trained at vikings in the past, but it was much slower compared to this (unless you're in a party).

it may be different now since there are better items; high damage is easy to obtain. so you are going to have to experiment with that one.

also with puppet, you can make anywhere a sniping point :)
