The Mayo Clinic diet was recognized by U.S. News in their recent "Best Diet" rankings. The diet ranked in the top 10 in all of the categories it was evaluated in, and in the top 5 for  diets overall.  In this blog post, Donald Hensrud, M.D., discusses the rankings.  He also provides some information for people who are considering diet plans.  "Regardless of the rankings, weight loss and maintaining a healthy lifestyle is a very individual journey for most people. The important thing is to find a program that works for you, that is evidence-based, healthy, and easy to follow," explains Dr. Hensrud.

The Mayo Clinic Diet (link to book) was released in January 2010.  All of the elements of The Mayo Clinic Diet are evidence-based, health supporting, safe, and effective.  Research is currently underway to more directly document the benefits of the diet.
