Thirty-three antiwar protesters were arrested on Capitol Hill late this afternoon. They brought traffic to a complete halt at the intersections of New Jersey and Independence Avenues for nearly an hour. The Longworth and Cannon House Office buildings are also located there. The demonstrators refused to disperse from a sit down in the middle of the street. Under a huge blue banner that read, "Not one More Mothers Child," they defied the police order to disperse. They held high an American flag as the police moved in for the arrests. Led by Peace activist Cindy Sheehan, they shouted out: "Arrest George Bush! Arrest Dick Cheney!" At noon, the protesters had held a rally at Lafayette Park, opposite the White House, to launch the "SWARM on Congress" campaign." See,

  • We need to protest European style...these nice, cute, polite, decent, quite, non money costing protests do not work. People are harassed even while protesting peacefully, so what matters? getting your point across by protesting the way the MAN likes or protesting that will reach into the MANS pockets. Europeans shut entire cities down forcing the government to the table, while Americans just rant and rave in the streets while their voices go unheard most of the time. We could learn from Europeans.

  • you support USA but USA supported Taliban ;) so who is a traitor ?

  • People who protest like this are attention-whoring asses. Does a protest like this do anything except ruin the day of the average citizen who is trying to get to a from work? Did you do anything effect government at all or just the local PD who had to deal with. And they were more respectful and well behaved than the protesters.

  • Thanks for wasting everyones time and TAX paying dollars for those polcie to arrest all of your worthless asses and holding up traffic for half an hour. Forcing your OPINIONS on other people through this means is not appropiate and is illegal (thank god)

  • wow total ignorance if our soldiers did not fight in the iraq war many of those protesters most likely would have already been killed (which would be bad even though they are protesters) by Terrorists

  • LMAO Chenney is a hard ASS

  • Go Home US Protestor! You don't care about the war against Terrorist in Afghanistan! You even don't care about 9/11! You even don't care about those died 9/11! You called your self American more like Traitors! Traitors deserve to died! I care about my country USA! I support US military in Afghanistan! I belive them they will capture Osama Bin Laden and end his Terrorist Organization! Taliban will go for negoation! U-S-A, U-S-A, U-S-A! WW2 Vetern never give up during WW2! We can do it like them.

  • there is no may be right about traffic violations.. they are violating traffice laws by holding up traffic. so at the very least they should all be issued a ticket for that. and im sure this protest did a lot of good to end the war seeing how its almost a year later and we are still kickin ass over there.

  • Say what you say but the war's still going on and none of you loud mouths will stop it.

  • I could picture cheney perched up on the whitehouse picking off these protesters one by one on the roof of the whitehouse..

    Now that would be comical
