  • Ok, I have a question, I'm a freshman in high school and I plan on either joining the Air Force or the Marines right after high school. I plan on pursuing a career in piloting while serving and in order to do so i have to become an officer and in order to become on officer i need a bachelor's degree. Is it a good idea to go to the academy and get a bachelor in science or should i go to a college and get a degree in what i want.

  • @JBisaQueer, I'm sorry, but I'm afraid I'm not qualified to answer that.

  • All I can tell you is that it's one of the USAF's larger aircraft.

  • @JBisaQueer Your chances are dramatically greater if you go to the academy and excel. People with science or mathematics degrees (particularly in physics, engineering, etc.) also tend to be better off than someone with a non-science or math related degree. If you want to be a pilot, than go to the Air Force or the Navy. Getting a pilot slot is hard enough, but its nearly impossible through the army or marines. The way to improve you chances now, is to maintain a high GPA. Good luck!

  • You can tell this guy is damn competitive. He's a navi looking for a pilots opening. This is what I dream about every day.

  • @JBisaQueer In order to become a pilot in the military you have to graduate college with a Bachelor's degree in any major doesn't matter, get commissioned into an officer (obviously) from either The Air Force Academy, Naval Academy, AFROTC or NROTC, Officer Training School (Air Force) or Officer Candidate School (Marines). Reading from your post of what branches you like to join these are your options. As a former cadet I know the procedures but whatever path you choose GOOD LUCK.

  • @JBisaQueer It all depends man. USAFA is a place for a different breed. Its very tough to get into. Everything about you has to be perfect. Otherwise, if you want to be a pilot going through ROTC is not a bad idea, but getting that pilot SLOT and field training slot is difficult as well. The air force is looking for engineers, and in order to be a pilot in the air force, it is recommended to be an engineering major as well. art majors are not as apt to receive a pilot slot as engineering majors.

  • @rbecker54 What aircraft is he assigned to if you don't mind me asking?
