There are approximately 20 million inhabitants in the metropolitan area of São Paulo - the biggest city in Brazil. Although this has raised the profile of the city, the negative impact is also being felt - the daily immigration of thousands from all the regions of Brazil seeking work in the city. Unfortunately, São Paulo does not have the suitable infrastructure roughly six million alone live in slums and many of these work in the informal labor market to earn their living.
