Our teacher set us a project to write to Jim. I refused to write the letter for some reason. Wasn't ready for it in case I won I suppose.

When I was about 13 I tried to look up his phone number in the London phone directory. I wanted to ask if he could fix it for me to meet Olympic gymnast Nadia Comanech! I rung one number, not sure who it actually was I rung, and asked for Jimmy Savile, and then she said "Hold on..." and I could hear like a big bell being rung at the other end. But I gave up waiting for someone to come back to me on the phone and hung up. Very probably a wrong number anyway!
