DAVIS HITS WINNER AT BUZZER TO SEND CLIPPERS PAST CELTICS

Baron Davis sank a fadeaway shot from just inside the three-point line as time expired, and the Los Angeles Clippers pulled out a 92-90 win over the Boston Celtics at Staples Center.

Davis finished with 24 points and 13 assists for the Clippers, who led only once in the second half -- after Davis' game-winning shot. Chris Kaman had a game-high 27 points to go with 12 rebounds, while Eric Gordon had 15 points for Los Angeles, which snapped a three-game losing streak.

"I told (head) coach (Mike Dunleavy), 'Get it to me for a turnaround fadeaway,'" Davis said. "Everybody stepped up defensively. We did everything we had to do to win this game."

Rajon Rondo posted 20 points and six assists for the Celtics, who lost for only the second time in 15 road games. Ray Allen added 13 points, while Tony Allen had 10 points and 10 boards. Kevin Garnett had 12 points and eight rebounds, and Eddie House contributed 10 points in the loss.

Leading by two at halftime, the Celtics rolled off a 12-4 burst to begin the third quarter, taking a 60-50 lead on a Kendrick Perkins jumper three minutes into the period.

Boston held approximately a 10-point lead for a majority of the period until an 8-0 run by the Clippers made it a 71-69 game with 35 seconds left on Kaman's layup. The Celtics took a 73-69 lead to the fourth.

Los Angeles got to within one possession several times in the fourth but could never break through. Kaman hit a jumper for an 88-86 game with three minutes left, but Tony Allen answered with a layup a minute later to push the margin back to four for Boston.

DeAndre Jordan had a chance to get the Clippers to within one with 1 1/2 minutes left, but the career 37.8 percent free throw shooter coming into the game missed both.

Ray Allen missed a deep jumper with 30 seconds left with a chance to put the Celtics ahead by five, and Rasual Butler came down and drilled a three-pointer from the corner with 8.5 seconds left to tie the game.

With 1.5 seconds to go, Rondo was fouled by Davis while driving to the basket; he missed the first free throw off the back rim, and the second also rimmed out, leaving exactly one second on the clock.

"The free throws didn't bother me, (but) I would have liked for them to have gone in," said Boston head coach Doc Rivers. "For a veteran team, we played with no composure. We didn't play like a veteran team."

Davis got the ensuing halfcourt inbounds pass, turned around and drilled a deep fadeaway from the top of the key for the dramatic game-winning shot.

In a closely contested first quarter, the Celtics outscored the Clippers, 23-22.

Boston led by as much as eight, 36-28, in the second quarter, but a 12-0 burst by LA put the Clippers in front, 42-38 with 3:20 to play in the half.

The first half ended with the visitors holding a 48-46 advantage.

Game Notes:

The Celtics lost for only the second time in their last 16 games overall...Los Angeles has beaten Boston two straight times at home...Perkins had nine points for Boston.
