@weareallanimals78 I did read your comment. Why did you conclude I didn't? I wasn't trying to antagonize you, but to point out that doing good isn't really good in God's eyes. I am guilty as anyone. I'm sorry that I upset you, but I certainly did read your response and was trying to respond to it.

@JoshLikesMusic and your response is exactly why I dislike religion. You do not focus on what people are saying it seems. Your last response shows that you obviously read NOTHING of my previous posting. Alas...I am done on this thread. I will respond no longer. The internet is not the place to have this type of discussion, flame wars solve nothing. Good day.

@weareallanimals78 Even evil people can do good for people they like. Christ says that we are to love our enemies. The problem with doing good is that it is always corrupted by our sinful hearts. I confess to you that when I do good, I often do it because it "feels good" or because it may benefit me some how in the future. Even these good deeds are selfish and sinful. The Bible says all our righteous deeds are like filthy rags to God (Isa 64:6), and we cannot please Him without faith in Christ.

@JoshLikesMusic Actually, I do good for others all the time. And as for the comment I left, I am not an Atheist (at least not now). I have grown spiritually. And at the time I had left that comment, I was over generalizing, and I apologize for that. Certain Christians DO perform acts in the hope of gaining entry I consider myself....Ignostic Christian at this time. I prefer to use the old quote "The world is my country, and doing good is my religion".

@weareallanimals78 Christians have no need to help others in order to get into heaven. We help others because we love our God and our fellow man. Helping people for the betterment of mankind isn't necessarily selfless. Would you do good for someone you had never met and would hate you if they knew who you were? Jesus did, and this is the example we strive to follow.

Jesus is a mythological character. Nothing more. Nothing less.

Shows how much you know about the Gospels. One fallacy of the Gospel of Luke. HE didn't come around until he started to follow Paul which was after Christ's accension. Josephus who was not a christian admitted to yes Christ rose from the dead. Seems as though you are attacking something that you really know nothing about and put your faith in anyone who denies God. Which in itself is a religion.
Too stupid to understand science and too unstable to accept realiy? Then religion may be right for you!

And for all you religious people out there, you help others for god (IE; buying a ticket to your heaven) however we atheists help others for the betterment of mankind and the planet as a whole.
