There were a bunch of veterans hired in the summer of1996 that were around for years and for their 'big break in the wwf' they were all given piss poor gimmicks. Ron was a black gladiator. Tracey Smothers was a country bumpkin babyface. Bill Irwin was a heel bully hockey player. Alex Porteau was an 'amateur wrestler' where his finisher was a roll up. Tom Brandi was the heel Italian Salvatore Sincere (which actually had potential if pushed). Ron was eventually OK, but the others deserved better
