I saw the Global Calligraphy Exhibition, 2008 (15-21 Dec 2008) at the J J Institue of Applied Arts, Mumbai. Most of the spread was amazing and thankfully photography was allowed. But a section from Bhandarkar Institute, Pune was out of bound for cameras. This section displayed a number of manuscripts dating back up to 17 century writen in Devnagari, Persian and Modi. The were writen on paper, palm leaf and birch bark!
But the most eye 'popping' object was the copy of great Indian king Harsha vardhan's own hand-writing (590657)!
Great !
