Bill Cosby played Chet Kincaid in this 1969-71 TV series, one year after "I Spy" ended. Interestingly, Don Knotts also was a guest star in this one episode from 1970. Thanks to RTV for bringing back another great retro show.

ps - Thanks to some loyal viewer's comments, I can note that this is the second version of the opening (season 2, 1970-71), from a December 1969 episode.
Does anyone have the Season 1 version?

NOTE: Fair use and education regarding Classic TV History are the reasons for this posting, thank you!!

  • @raydog699 It's not exactly "tokenism" (news flash: just because a person isn 't - gasp - a white male doesn't make any job they get automatic tokenism). In the US, something like upwards of 25% of people AREN'T white (a number which will continue to rise), and more than 50% are women. People actually LIKE Bill Cosby, which no doubt has probably made him a well-known celebrity for 50 years. Steve Harvey, now that probably IS tokenism. He doesn't seem like a very nice person in real life.

  • Great old stuff!!!!!!

  • I loved this show when I was a kid.

  • @majinish Yeah, I said the same thing. Very unlikely pair...

    steve h is a ass

  • I'm sayin the theme song is a killer jazz riff. That's the most memorable part of the show.

  • I can remember watching reruns of this in the '80s while "The Cosby Show" was airing every Thursday. Even as a kid I could tell the earlier show was *far* better than the later one.

  • I used to watch reruns of this on CBN (which is now ABC Family) during afternoons in the 1980s. For the record, Cosby originally studied to be a PE teacher, which was the inspiration for his character on this series. During college, he worked as a bartender and realized he had a talent for entertaining patrons with his funny stories, and eventually tried his luck at stand-up. Needless to say, it paid off.

  • oh my goodness, i remember watching this, i never forgot this funny intro

  • My favorite episode was the one where the little orthodox Jewish boy, who was a great baseball player, couldn't play on the Sabbath and felt he was letting the team down. Cosby set him straight. I also liked the episode with John Marley who was a millionaire and built a replica of his New York neighborhood so he could try to recapture the happiness of his childhood. Great writing.

  • he loves to play around wit his name on all of his shows until its so confusing to differentiate from one show to another.
