the boards look great. very cool design. my only concern would be the long grain to end grain joint you made when inserting the veneer between the bandsaw cuts. this is traditionally a very weak bond because the end grain soaks up so much of the glue and it is essentially a glue starved joint. regardless, i love the way they look.

yeh they look nice, but your not mean't to use the long grain of wood as your knives will easily cut into the wood, your mean't to use a food grade oil especially for chopping boards as the oil will contaminate your food or if using some oils such as olive or sunflower they will go rancid and still effect your food, and finally as nice as ash is its open grain doesn't take sealents to well and will attract dirt and will turn grey, shame because ash is a lovely wood, i've a guitar made the same

Nice project, I will have to get round to doing a cutting board at some point.
Thanks for the comments. I've made a lot of cuttingboards who are doing just fine. Endgrain is an option but sometimes longgrain is a better option because you can do more with it.
