P.S. if you don't like the music, just turn it off and don't send me ignorant comments on how to eliminate the music!

Thanks!

  • Technically speaking,Cuevas was one of the hardest hitters in WW history but his power punches were those looping hook type blows that are only Really Good against guys that were around his own size.Hearns was too tall for Cuevas to be effective with these types of punches. He would've needed a Great Overhand Right to have a chance against Hearns. That's how you KO guys much taller than you. With a Powerfull Overhand Right or left.Management should've known to avoid Hearns.

  • Cuevas took the fight without knowing anything about Thomas Hearns. I'm sure he would've thought about it twice had he known what he was against... Unlike Roberto Duran, who knew who he was going against and still took a chance...

  • Was there any reason to have music? What the hell?

  • yes, the original audio was messed up.

I think thats because Hearns was more accurate of a puncher. His KO's were from one punch because they landed straight on the chin. But Cuevas had more natural power and would throw punchs anywhere.

  • People watched him dance on his toes and didn't understand how hard Cuevas hit people. Big power in every punch, every time. He'd hit opponents on the arms and didn't care. Cuevas didn't KO many people in dramatic fashion the way Hearns did, he broke them the way Ernie Shavers or a young Sonny Liston did.

  • Poor Billy.

  • In the 3rd and final fight against Angel Espada he broke Espada's jaw in 2 pieces and broke 2 ribs while he sustained a dislocated jaw. Brutal. It was a shame he did not have some defense and more hand speed.

  • @tiburochako i agree. hearns was probably around 160 lbs entering the ring while cuevas, probably 150 or so. the reach and the height advantages were the most definitive advantages for hearns in they're bout though. Cuevas's management should've avoided Hearns like the plague. I would've had i managed Cuevas.

  • @bobbyd7085 Hearns was a Middleweight when he fought Cuevas, and Cuevas was a welter weight, was not an even match what so ever....

  • @tsk125wt That's a good possibility although I haven't lived there since the mid 80's.
