He doesn't answer the question on why he killed the girl because he really doesn't know and realizes right then and there what he did, to kill, for no apparent reason. He has a moment of clarity, enlightenment, whatever you want to call it, which is signaled by the white screen.

@Slumminbum i understand,many of them must belong to the animal kongdom,once,i had to work with people like them so i left that job in 2 weeks cause i obviously couldn´t stand them.
