My 4ft red-tail boa Ralston experienced a 10 month involuntary fasting under the couch in my room. I helped nurse him back to good health and this is the first live animal he has eaten in 11 months. This is a baby gerbil. It cost me $6.00 and it was well worth it. It was a blood bath!

  • Hmm, I see people saying that your bad for feeding it a live gerbil. I just recently bought 4 to breed. My question is.. What is the most humane way to kill them? My snake is used to frozen ones so they must be already dead. So do I just put them in a cup then fill it with water? Perhaps give them a good knock on the head first?? One guy told me to just put them in a bag then freeze them.. But thats a slow cold death. Anyways I'm not sure why I'm asking this here.. But if you respond, Thanks!!

  • thanks for your comment/question. I've read a couple books about boas and there are a couple humane ways to kill them. One way, which i feel is best, is to swing the animal by its tail and hit its head hard against the edge of a table. This will instantly kill or knock unconcious the animal depriving it of any pain whatsoever....

  • Another way is to put the gerbil/rat/whatever on a table with a spoon facedown holding its head. Holding the spoon down you take its tail and jerk upward quickly and snap its neck. Now you might think that this is the better less messy option but from what i've heard, snapping the neck is basically like suffocating. If you knock out the animal first it feels nothing. Hope this helped.

  • this is sick, why would you film it and put it on here for everybody to watch, i have a snake and two gerbils and only a sick prik like you would put it on here for everybody to see, its not in the wild so it doesnt need live prey, its the same as me strangling your snake and eating it, hmm sounds tasty

  • actually, feeding a snake live prey satisfies more nutritional requirements than frozen rats. The food inside the belly of live prey helps promote healthy skin growth where frozen rats aren't fed anything prior to their death so they don't crap everywhere. Anyways, i'm pretty sure they just toss rats in the freezer to kill them... so basically no matter what it sucks for the food. c'est la vie.

  • I've read that you don't have to let them hibernate but sometimes they might induce it themselves and your supposed to drop the temp 10 degrees. I think its supposed to last 2 or 3 months at tops.

  • Omg have you ever imagined how much fear that little gerbil had? Just feed your snake a already dead one, 'cause this is sick!

  • yo this is on a different vid and the kid started cryin hahahaha

  • I recorded my step brother watching this 2 1/2 and it's still not a video response?!?!?!?!?! Oh well... for whoever might read this just click on the video on the right by me.

  • did the pet shop know you bought it to feed to your snake? if not u should have just given a frozen 1 , as they were bred to be eaten, in pet shops theyre bred to be pets, i meen the snakes gotta eat put still,

  • i know you think its normal but gerbils are officialy pets not like a mouse who isnt ! thats why i'm having a hard time watching this cause i have 2 gerbils and i love them allot

  • That would be fun to watch....

  • Actually snakes eat way more than dead mice. They eat live or frozen/thawed mice, rats, gerbils, guinea pigs, rabbits, pigs, chickens, etc. depending on their girth and pickyness. It's not sickening or idiotic, it's natural. And it's not like the gerbil had a whole lot to go through, it gives a bite and constricts and in less than a minute the gerbil is dead. If you thinks it's that bad, don't watch it! Have a nice day.

  • im not being funny but why would u do this to the poor little gerbil,i had 4 gerbils and ive just expericened 3 deaths and im deverstated,u feed snakes

    DEAD MICE

not the poor gerbils u sick idiot!
