These are clips featuring Bob Prince ("The Gunner") and KDKA's Jon Burnett are from the April 1984 KDKA TV-2 special, "Pirate Party '84". The scenes were taken from Froggy's in Pittsburgh and owner Steve "Froggy" Morris even makes an appearance toward the end! Other guests include "The Pirettes", Dan Galbraith, Ray Tannehill, Liz Miles, Councilman Robert Pitts, Rev. George Werner and whoever was the organist at Three Rivers Stadium that year. Also featured are former Pittsburgh Pirates Steve Blass, Dave Giusti, Bob Skinner, Frank Thomas and Frankie Gustine. Sorry for the poor quality, but I thought that it needed to be seen...
Bob Prince was the greatest Pirate announcer of all time. I sure wished I had had the opportunity to meet him. I remember listening to him on my transistor radio and seeing him sitting in the KDKA booth at Forbes Field.

Great find!! I never got to see this when it aired the first time around, I assume this was before the Bucs '84 opener against SD (which they lost 5-1, thank you media guide) Who knew this would be the start of the Padres pennant-winning season? And also the start of the Pirate decline that they didn't get out of until '88 thanks to Jim, Andy, and Barry. In fairness though, the decline began the minute the ink dried on Dave Parkers contract with the Reds that offseason. LETS GO BUCS!
