TThis is amazing, you should turn this into a commercial application, it would be so great to have some sort of modular environment where one could throw together sims like this, could be so uesful for foley, sound design and experimental music. is there a demo applet available for download anywhere?

That is absolutely amazing... how did you do that? Is it all physically modelled sound interaction.

I also wonder whether there is a way of making this sound less like a pitched 'ding' for duller materials without using more complex algorithms, might be a way to fake it.

Pretty cool. i wonder if a vst version would work, with the ability to record 'events' (the users input) or midi notes and line them up with a video in a DAW. The ability to record and edit the interactions would also be very useful in the standalone version as you could infinitely tweak the sound.
