The RAFs last Vulcan (XH558) displaying at Wroughton, UK, 19th Sept.1992. Filmed the day before its last public display.
This aircraft is due to return to flying display status in 2007. Visit www.tvoc.co.uk for more info.
This clip shows the aircraft performing a low level pass before a steep climb out and bank round back onto the display line. Bit shaky in places.

  • This reminds me of the time I was at RAF Cottesmore and looking after the runway lighting.I have seen on a QRA practice 4 Vulcans take off in 4.5 mins. They had to stop the steep vertical take offs as the engines were blasting holes in the runway.A truly wonderful aircraft which I will always remember.I have made models of the 3 V-bombers i.e. Valiant,Victor and Vulcan.

  • @adrianswhitehead The reason she is flown so calm nowadays is to preserve her to keep her flying aslong as possible, her engines have very limited life aswell as her airframe life which runs out in the next couple of years. She may be quite throughout parts of her display but they do put the effort in to let us hear the roar of her engines a few times including the full power climbout with the howl. She has indeed got show stopping potetial which is used very well at all the shows she attends.

  • Nice to watch back in '92 but have you seen them fly it these days? Forget the Vulcan ROOOOAAAARRRRR!!!. Its more like a big glider these days. Whats the point????

It's a shadow of its former self. Surely when they do big airshows like Waddington they might make it the star of the show like it used to be? Now its just another museum piece with big wings that only looks like XH558...And thats about all.Yes it has got show stopping potential and for me they should use it to keep XH558 popular!

  • Always loved this aircraft.

  • onesnowball u r right the vulcan is a FANTASTIC plane. such a beautiful design. as big as it is it can actualy outmaneauver large fighters. don't believe me if u want but it can. djgambit i bet it is bu tif theres a problem only the pilot and co pilot wil survive cause they have ejection seats. noone else does. danda the mig 31 would fi tin nicely too.

  • That is what i call a bird of prey.

  • I haven't been able to see the vulcan in real life but from what I saw in this vid all I will say is amazing. That really looks like fun to watch and must be a blast to fly

  • I was at Woodford Airshow in the late 60`s/early 70`s when one did the vertical climb over the end of the runway a bit close to the crowd. All the grass shrivelled up and burnt, and all your internal organs vibrated into jam. It remains the best sound in the world. Better than Blackbirds, better than Concorde. Cant wait for the airshow season

  • Operation red flag 77... The yanks couldn't shoot these or the Buccs down, not really surprising, the Buccs were in dried up river beds, the Vulcans at 50 (yes fifty) feet from Canada to Nevada... F15 locked on, ping ping in the three pilots ears (three?) yeah, two Buccs peeled off from UNDER the Vulcans wings and carried on to the target.. Go RAF!!

  • listen to that roar! hopefully i'll be able to see this loud aircraft at a display now one's been revamped
