  • In this case it's self adhisive paper. You could also tape the ends off with some packing tape. The same as some thickness sanders.

  • Interesting concept. I believe I would build a homemade "spindle sander" if I had to though. Also, instead of a rolling pin, I would probably turn some pieces on the lathe and make a homemade rolling pin. I don't know though, this might work for some applications, I've used a bit of dowel in the drill press in a similar fashion.
