Just found out about OutdoorLads through a link a mate sent and watched this video. It looks really good actually so I will definitely be looking into it more.
As far as the video goes...there is nothing wrong with it. It explains the project well and what's up with the music? It's not depressing nor does it sounds like feel sorry music. Get a grip guys, Its a good film
@Smartaudiouk Independent 22/5/09 "Michael Causer's only crime was to be openly gay. For this the trainee hairdresser was dragged from his bed last July and viciously beaten. His piercings were forcibly removed with a knife, according to some witnesses. He died nine days later in hospital from brain injuries. Tomorrow James O'Connor, 19, will be sentenced after admitting the murder of the 18yr-old in Lvrpl, in a case which..illustrates a rising + little-reported tide of homophobia in Britain.
@hrhargyll Maybe if homosexuals moderated their behavior and the way they acted they would accepted, Homophobia is a self creation of Homosexuals because they believe others should be accepting, well sorry to say its not going to happen. Try integrating once the behavior is moderated, you maybe surprised.
Well, smartaudiouk perhaps you should try googling 'homophobic hate crime statistics' and see if you can spot anything that goes some way to explaining why many gay and bi men feel more comfortable/need to socialise in groups where they are safe from such things. I suggest the 2009 Independent article Homphobia: The Forgotten Hate Crime" - note the manner of Michael Causer's death. BTW do come to the Bingham Cup next year and tell the rugby players that they are "big girl's blouses"! :-)
@kyliekat How wrong can you be, we have had over 90 messages in our inbox saying something along the lines of why do gays separate themselves from society, into 'gay only groups' ( Which is technically illegal) and then squeal homophobia when people judge and comment about them, my answer was if they were to stop being big girls blouses, manned up and mixed with society, they might be accepted. On and business is great, thanks for asking!
@littlekev2000 We would be not want to be an 'outdoor lad' we are not kids, its pathetic, a bunch of grown men flouncing around the countryside camping it up. You guys need to grow up.
Sadly the rights holders of the music we originally wanted weren't quite as charitable as they would like the general public to believe on this occasion. This music may not be the first choice, but the sentiment of the video stands. OutdoorLads is a great way to get out more and for gay and bi lads to go out and do something different together, learn new skills, achieve more, both individually and collectively, and show to people that the gay community extends further than the nearest bar. :)
@chiamo13 glad you like the film and hope to see you on some events soon! :)
