Interview Part One with Ekoostik Hookah in the MoBoogie Loft on 12-15-07. The band talks about John Mullins being back in the band after a 10 year hiatus as well as the recording process on their latest album "Under Full Sail". www.moboogie.net
@Metalgeekchic thats funny colective soul is a christian band, and can prolly play jam music better than these guys. and they make a slant at them.. pathetic hippies with a wad of cash in their pocket! i love how ppl pretend that this is some great hippie movement, yet ekoostik charges $20+ to get into any of there shows.. peace, love and the pursuit of the almighty dollar. if these guys were hippies then festivals wouldnt cost $100 and tickets to there shows wouldnt be $20..
if you need drugs to enhance the music, then either the music sucks, or youre personallity is lacking. i listen to all of my music without the aid of powerful drugs, and it all sounds perfectly amazing to me. sorry bud but ur the one throwing ur life away and thinking you will find enlightenment in a bag of drugs. pretty sure this whole theory has been tested in the 60's and it failed miserably.. they are just recycling a big failure. a lost movement that has become a money maker for hippies..
The musical talent of Ekoostik Hookah brings waves of open minded individuals who use psychedelics to enhance their appreciation for the music. Yet, this does not mean one can attend a festival with horrible music and use psychedelics to enhance your appreciation for that bad music. These are Music-Fueled festivals where psychoactive compounds circulate in order for everyone to be good to each other and have incredible experiences. So, you have it all wrong, sir.
I loved Rivermen. Even checked in to them playing at my wedding (1997) and they sent me a demo. Remember seeing them all the time in Toledo during my Bowling Green days
In the early nineties I was really into the Dead tours, and here at home, (NE Ohio) Hookah is the shit! At a Hookah show, you just knew that with that much talent, they were destined to "blow up"! Steve Sweeney was and still is the "lightnln' boy!" The Rivermen used to open for them sometimes, They were beautiful, Michele and Jeremy had an undescribably original "down home" harmony sound going on and I just wonder whatever happened to them. Wide Water Sun? Anyone?
I used to drive to Columbus every wed. night to see them play in a basement bar for 2 dollars... this band has always had an amazing talent... they are really approachable guys too... used to see cliff playing banjo on high street... always a smile and a friendly hello... i ran into sweeney walking around as a "face in the crowd" at grateful dead shows he always had a guitar and it seems to be his best form of communication... john mullins songs are the best. so glad he is back.
