  • ...this beat was put together by the great Fela Kuti, originator of Afrobeat. The tune, called "Mr. Grammar", was recorded by Fela way back in the day but never officially released - I still have a copy.

    The drum style adopted by Quest in this video can be heard on Fela's tunes - the foremost proponent of this style is none other than the Tony Allen, co-founder of Afrobeat (look him up).

    Props to Fela Anilulapo-Kuti, Tony Allen and The Roots crew for bringing the vibe to the 21st century.
