Development in Minuwangoda accelerated
July 18, 2011 Development of the Minuwangoda Town is being accelerated. Massive development is in progress in the town. Several development projects are already in place in the Minuwangoda Town under the full supervision of Western Province Chief Minister Prasanna Ranatunga. Since the inception of local bodies, the Minuwangoda Urban Council was under the rule of the United National Party. However when former Minister Reggie Ranatunga was the organizer the Peoples Alliance was able to grab power once in 1997. With the demise of Reggie Ranatunga, the Urban Plan became defunct. However Prasanna Ranatunga took the initiative of implementing this plan again within a short period under the guidance of Minister Basil Rajapaksa. Accordingly work on the Divisional Secretariat Building, the water tank, the Minuwangoda hospital, the operation theater and the blood bank, the bus stand and the shopping complex was launched. Work on many of these projects is almost nearing completion.
