A quick video explaining how to get the 3.0 firmware for FREE, instead of paying $10 to Apple for the iPod update. And the iPhone 3.0 if free in iTunes, but this is just another way to get it. Btw, the OS 3.0 firmware is NON-BETA. It's official final release.
1.) Download & Install iTunes 8.2
2.) Download the 3.0 firmware for your iPhone/iPod Touch using the website provided below:
Download all iPhone/iPod Touch firmware files from here: http://www.felixbruns.de/iPod/firmware/
They come directly from Apple's web server.
3.) Connect your iPod Touch to computer
4.) Start iTunes 8.2 & Select iPhone/iPod from devices list
5.) Hold Shift and click Restore.
6.) Locate iPhone/iPod Touch ipsw files downloaded in step 2
7.) Do not disconnect till iTunes has completed updating iPhone/iPod Touch
Thats it, Now enjoy your 3.0 Firmware.
Your 3.0 firmware is also fully jailbreakable for both the iPhone and iPod Touch. All you do is use redsn0w. YouTube it.
