"Alfie's Theme" is a record of the motion picture "Alfie" (1966). Its originally played by Sonny Rollins. Here is my interpretation. Please pardon my mistakes and my reed, that is squeaking sometimes. I'm a self-taught non-professional.

In the background you can hear the playalong from Hal Leonard's "Jazz Play Along - Sonny Rollins, volume 33".

My setup:
- Tenorsax B&S TS 249 Antoine Courtois Paris (Medusa)
- Mouthpiece Zinner TS 78-6
- Reed Vandoren ZZ 2
All songs of Lateboooomer 'til today played with a dammaged highest sidekey. I closed the open hole with a 2-Cent-Euro-Coin fixed by "Plastic Fermit".

  • Where can I find the sheet music?

  • @lovehamsters14

Have a look in this book (with cd):

    Hal Leonard

    Jazz play along

    Sonny Rollins

    volume 33

    ISBN 0-634-07988-3

    Have fun!

  • Just out of curiousity, how old are you and how long have you been playing?

  • You´ll get an e-mail, amigo.

  • You have a great tone aside from the quivering; get rid of that and you're good to go. Taking formal lessons would help you a lot with developing vibrato, but if you still want to go it alone, books like The Art of Saxophone Playing (by Larry Teal) have great descriptions of how to achieve correct vibrato. One thing you want to do is practice it slowly and with a metronome at first (48bpm-ish).

  • Thank you for your information. There have been some other users, who critized my quivering tone. I'm trying to get better all the time. I'll give you an example quiet soon ...

  • Get rid of that fast vibrato and you'll sound MUCH better.

  • @helluvagun

Really - by them notes and by them ears!

  • Those who can't play by ear are nothing to me!

  • hey, it sounds really good. can you please send me the plaalong via email? thanks so much,

  • Very nice playing. Could you send me sheet music to this - It is wonderful piece to play

  • it's different, but not bad, not bad at all, I like it, but maybe the middle part is a little to aggressive .
